Thousand Oaks, CALIFORNIA, (June 07, 2023) – Save Our Water, California’s statewide water conservation campaign, and the Girl Scouts of the Central Coast (GSCC) partnered to host the first Save Our Water – Wonders of Water Day on Saturday, May 20 at the Conejo Valley Botanic Gardens. The Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast serves over 5,700 girls across six counties including: Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.
During the event, brownie-level Girl Scouts learned about water conservation and how simple actions today will help save water in a big way. Each participant completed their “Wonders of Water” journey and earned their badge. They also enjoyed playing a “Race to Save Water ” board game, learned about California native plants, and played a “Save and Share Water” relay race. At the end of the day they went home with freshly potted, water-wise California poppies.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Save Our Water campaign. The Girl Scouts pride themselves on providing activities that enrich as well as educate the lives of young girls,” said Nicki Butler, the Director of Mission Delivery at the GSCC. “It is crucial that we start making these daily changes that will help preserve water starting today. It’s a bonus that we get to host the event somewhere so beautiful that highlights all that California has to offer.”
