Margaret’s thoughts on gardening:

My love of gardening began in England and my heroines were gardeners like Beth Chatto, Vita Sackville-West, Gertrude Jekyll etc. Coming to live in Southern California, I had to adapt to extreme climate conditions. After visiting places like the Living Desert in Palm Desert, Moorten Botanical Gardens in Palm Springs and the Huntington Library Gardens San Marino, I realized the beauty of a desert landscape. Changing my front garden and removing the lawn was not difficult. Gardening is always trial and error but the combination of rocks, gravel and plants gives great joy.

Margaret’s favorite gardening quote:

“For the garden is the only place there is, but you will not find it. Until you have looked for it everywhere and found nowhere that is not a desert.” W.H.Auden, “For the Time Being.”
